The domestic airport is also well-connected with the rest of the Indian states.

The cityscapes are attractive, too. After landing here, you may take a detour public ride or rent a car to see Chennai around. However, Chennai’s first major tourist attraction is on the city’s outskirts. It is Mahabalipuram, a.k.a Mamallapuram. Above all, it is a cultural and ancient architectural site. 

You will find marvelous carvings and sculptures on this site. Firstly, there is a specimen of a stone temple. Also, there are stone-sculpted statues and temples on the beach. Most importantly, all these specimens belong to the 7th century.

Other attractions near Chennai are Yelagiri Hills and Sripeumbudur. But Chennai is primarily famous for its many temples, such as Kabaleeshwarar temple, Santhome church, the enormous Mosque, Kattubava Mosque, and Vadapalani Murugan temple. It also has many majestic monuments. Some of them are reflections from the colonial past.  But the important ones deserve mention. So, visit St. George’s Fort, Vivekananda House, Victory War Memorial, and St. Thomas Mount during your first visit. This city also has the world’s second-longest beach, the Marina Beach.

Madurai is one of the oldest cities in India. It had been the hub where the language of Tamil grew. There are a lot of attractions in this place. This place is very famous for the Meenakshi Amman temple. This temple complex has 26 temples inside it. 

It is one of the jewels of monuments of this place. Other attractions include Thirumalai Nayakkar Mahal, Gandhi Memorial Museum, Koodal Azhagar Temple, St. Mary’s Cathedral, Banana Market, and Thriuparankundram.

If you want to enjoy the authentic culture of this place, visit Madurai during January. Pongal (Jan 15 to 17) is the main festival of this place.  You can find a lot of performances and cultural programs. 

Bullfighting is a common sport during this festival. Sugarcane and sweet rice porridge of Pongal are very famous.

Ooty

Ooty

Ooty is the queen of hill stations. It is one of the most visited honeymoon vacation spots in Tamil Nadu. 

Though the state is a tropical region, this hill station has a mild climate throughout the year. The best time to visit is between December and February. If you want to enjoy some floral attractions, visit during the summer.

The top places to visit are Ooty Lake, Doddabetta, Rose Garden, Avalanche Lake, Emerald Lake, Murkurthi Park, Stone House, and Botanical Garden. It is scenic everywhere, and you can buy fresh carrots just dugout. 

Homemade chocolates of Ooty are very famous. Top activities include trekking, sightseeing, boating, and horse riding. 

Remember to take the Ooty toy train on your way back. It is a heritage site and will be a wonderful experience.
