While the name Lakshadweep in Sanskrit means “one hundred thousand islands,” it is a group of 36 islands.
However, only 10 of them are inhabited. Tourists can only visit 6 out of 10 islands: Bangaram, Kavaratti, Minicoy, Agatti, Kadmat, and Kalpeni.
All Tourists, including Indian Citizens, require a permit to visit Lakshadweep. Tourists can apply for an entry permit via the official website of the U.T Administration of Lakshadweep.
The best time to plan a trip to Lakshadweep is between the months of September and May, as the weather during these months is favorable for all kinds of water activities.
Tourists can reach Lakshadweep via flights from Cochin International Airport and ships operating between Cochin and Lakshadweep.
BSNL and Airtel are the only two mobile network service providers in Lakshadweep. So, make sure to carry sims from either of these two providers during your Lakshadweep trip.
